Tubbataha
Location:
Located in the middle of the Sulu Sea, about 150 km southeast of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Tubbataha is a remote marine sanctuary accessible only by liveaboard during a short dive season each year.
Why it’s a top dive destination:
Tubbataha is the heart of the Coral Triangle — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most biodiverse reefs on Earth. With sheer walls, massive coral gardens, and pelagic encounters, it offers some of the Philippines’ most spectacular diving — untouched, vibrant, and perfectly protected.
Highlights:
Pristine coral walls and reef plateaus
Sharks, mantas, turtles, and large schools of fish
Whale sharks and hammerheads occasionally passing through
Seasonal liveaboard access (March–June only)
Fun Fact:
Tubbataha’s remote reefs are so well-protected that rangers live year-round on a tiny sand cay — ensuring the sanctuary remains one of the last truly wild and thriving coral reef ecosystems in Asia.
